Elijah Kautuq was born in 1953. His testimony includes information about the move of his parents to the community of Clyde River in 1968-1969 . He remembers that his parents were required to move because their children had to attend school. He believes that they were enticed by the offer of $2 rent for a house. However, the rent kept increasing. Growing up in a traditional background Elijah was very much affected by the new lifestyle in town. He believes that the RCMP was probably involved in the relocation of his family.
