Ningeochiak Peter

Ningeochiak Peter was born in 1937 at Qakuqtannguaq near Kinngait. His testimony includes information about the challenges of life and food management for humans and dogs in the outpost camp. He also discusses using dogs for hunting. As a teenager, he moved to Iqaluit by dog-team with his relatives but later on he moved back to Kinngait. His relatives did not experience their dogs being shot by other people. He occasionally witnessed RCMP officers and civilians shoot loose dogs in Kinngait and Iqaluit. He remembers people being attacked by dogs occasionally. He describes trade and the working conditions of HBC employees at the store.
